New Church Website

Due to the generosity of a parishioner, our church has a new and improved website. There's a few items left to be loaded, but the site is basically up and running. I think it is all very well done, for this sort of thing. Our East Texas mission has been in existence for 5 1/2 years, in an area that is overwhelmingly evangelical Protestant. The site is designed with that demographic in mind. Check it out here.

A beautiful and informative website; may it be a blessing to many. And thanks be to God for generous parishioners.

Great site! The site's "narthex" is a bit of a "what do I do now?" with it's choice between "Questions" and "Enter"... but hey... see how it works.

Take a look also at this rather well-heeled one I stumbled on (music is good, but implemented kind of annoyingly but if it were my choir... I'd probably do the same?): http://www.stmichaelorthodoxchurch.org/ Their "About Orthodoxy" section answers more than most will ask in a long, long time.

JtT,
We did that on purpose--for the casual visitor just wanting to know more about Orthodoxy itself, and not the particulars of our mission life. The "Questions" tab takes them straight to "Resources for Inquirers." I will certainly check-out the site you mention.

Too much emphasis on this sort of things gets you into the whole realm of "marketing" the church, an area in which I am not at all comfortable. But the fact of the matter is that the overwhelming majority of people who don't know we are here and find out about us--whether Orthodox or inquirers--do so online, and not by newspapers, phonebooks, word of mouth, etc.

John, Your voyage and your blog on Serbian Orthodox heritage you visited are an inspiration. On behalf of "Rodoslovlje" Serbian Genealogy Society I will be sharing your post around. :) yugaya, SGS web team
