He sent me a nasty little piece today from some Reformed site--"Did Jesus have Brothers and Sisters?" I usually take this sort of thing in stride, but it was particularly offensive today, on the Feast of the Annunciation. He doesn't understand that I have no intention of "debating," and am not swayed by such as this. Having found the Pearl of Great Price, why would I lay it down for that sort of thing???Terry (John)https://www.blogger.com/profile/07523479530843509695noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18762198.post-17408592714775122822010-03-25T11:16:10.412-07:002010-03-25T11:16:10.412-07:00I had forgotten that you were also former cofC. When I first started inquiring to Orthodoxy I had a list of all those who had "gone before" and was fascinated by the almost... forgive this ... boring similarities with all of what I had thought up to that point was my own grand-and-unique problems.

I have had a couple of encounters like this one. I still have one person who seems intent on getting me back "someday". The strangest thing I have experienced is their interest as to whether I'm still an ideological ally in their array of "issues" (religious, cultural, political).

It's amazing how important it is that Orthodox is "at least" acapella, or doesn't have women priests, or is against abortion, or performs baptisms. etc. It is actually hard now for me to get my mind back into that place where I can have a meaningful conversation with them.

I'm still convinced that there is a strong possibility of a migration, but only God can know.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18762198.post-56045095083158295152010-03-22T22:44:18.569-07:002010-03-22T22:44:18.569-07:00The word "Bible" is not in the Bible. The word "Bible" is not in the Bible.Milton T. "Ready Answers To Religious Errors"--oh man, does that bring back memories! [for those of you from non-Church of Christ backgrounds, RATRE was a small pocket-book that one could carry with them to whip out in case you suddenly found yourself in a thelogical debate.] Several years ago, my son an I found one and were having a bit of fun with it--writing snide and sarcastic remarks in the margins (yes, I know it is hard to imagine.) Unfortunately, my wife found it, and that turned out to be a bad move on my part :(Terry (John)https://www.blogger.com/profile/07523479530843509695noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18762198.post-84288157289874257142010-03-21T21:37:58.345-07:002010-03-21T21:37:58.345-07:00Indeed it is hard to converse when we use the same...Indeed it is hard to converse when we use the same words but defined by different paradigms. It takes a lot of restraint and wisdom to not fall back into the same futile vain conversations I used to have. Thank God there are other people I can refer someone to so I don't have to have all the "ready answers for religious errors". :)Steve Robinsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04319784922747041297noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18762198.post-25196697210144243222010-03-21T21:26:04.124-07:002010-03-21T21:26:04.124-07:00by Phillip Dodderidge
