I'm glad you got to Escomb church. For those who cannot visit, there is an excellent website which includes a 4 minute 'tour' of the church.<br /><br />In Durham Cathedral I felt quite angry about the lack of respect for the tomb of the Venerable Bede in the open area of the Galilee Chapel, in contrast the shrine of St Cuthbert. Also no-one at the Information Desk that day could tell me where I would find the 12th cent. 'wall painting' of St Cuthbert: it is in fact also in the Galilee Chapel, with another, probably St Oswald. Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
